I began French classes with Agnès a couple of months into the COVID quarantine; I soon discovered the delightful and effective combination of “Agnès, professor + the QTalk method”. As a Spanish teacher of many years, the world of language acquisition is not a new one to me, However, my personal experience learning French for the first time with the QTalk method has made the following clear: the definite advantage of a visual method in facilitating assimilation of new vocabulary and phrases, as well as helping to create visual connections for quicker recall of previously presented concepts. Agnès is so knowledgeable of how language works and is both a passionate and fun presence of each class. After all, playing with language IS fun, and we enjoy many laughs! I value her patience and encouragement. Even though I know what is required to learn a language, this does not always preclude my own sense of vulnerability or loss of confidence. After all, French is new to me, and I stumble and make my own mistakes along the way. However, having Agnès as my teacher has been the perfect antidote to any language apprehension. Taking on French back in May has proven to be a wonderful challenge for me at this stage of my life. I am so glad that Agnès and I connected, and I commend her for her “Bon travail!”.
