I think QTalk is a very good and versatile digital teaching tool for this level that brings students closer to the language in a playful way and encourages them to speak AND write French.
The visual support of the pictures definitely appeals to the pupils. They find working on the computer cool and can experience a sense of achievement after a short time by successfully completing the varied and different tasks with the pictures.
QTalk enables the children to communicate in French after a short time and to hold conversations among themselves by using the pictures when necessary. The pictures make it possible for the teacher to explain many things in French and for the pupils to understand them, even though they may not have understood everything literally.
The playful approach of Qtalk is also a great strength. It motivates the kids to write correct sentences in French, for example, so that they don’t receive any negative digital feedback. It also enables kids to work independently from an early age.
I think it’s important that more and more “storytelling” is added in the further stages. Stories that can be linked to the cultures in which French is spoken, so that the kids remain motivated and learn more about these cultures.
